Founded as Spa Essentia in 1999 and reimagined as Essentia Apothecary in 2022, our story is rooted in a deep respect for Indonesia’s botanical heritage and the rituals that have shaped wellbeing across generations.
Where It All Began
Founded in 1999 as Spa Essentia, our journey began with a simple belief: that Indonesia's rich botanical heritage deserved to be celebrated through locally crafted wellness products.​
Amid the challenges that followed the Asian Financial Crisis, our founder established Spa Essentia to support Gaya Spa while exploring the possibilities of Indonesia's natural resources through aromatherapy and traditional wellness practices.

What started as a practical solution soon became a lifelong mission.
Before there was Spa Essentia, there was a woman with a passion for aromatherapy, beauty, and Indonesia’s natural heritage.
Trained as an aromatherapist and beauty practitioner, Agnes Lourda Mardohar spent decades exploring how traditional Indonesian wellness practices could be preserved and shared with future generations.
What began as a way to support Gaya Spa in 1999 would eventually evolve into Essentia Apothecary.

For over two decades, we have explored Indonesia’s rich wellness traditions and the botanicals that have long been used in daily rituals across the archipelago.
Today, that knowledge informs every product we create.
Our products are developed and manufactured in our own CPKB Grade A certified facility in Bekasi, Indonesia. From ingredient selection and formulation to filling and packaging, every batch undergoes quality control procedures to help ensure consistency, safety, and quality.
Essentia Apothecary develops and manufactures its products in-house. By combining traditional wellness knowledge with modern manufacturing standards, we strive to create products that feel authentic, purposeful, and suitable for contemporary living.
